Hannah Walkers Top 5 in Wanaka

1.      The Mountains

Skiing has been a big part of my life & I love hitting the slopes with family and friends. We love a family day at Cardrona skiing (whilst taking work calls) & it is a real highlight and a privilege of being able to live in Wanaka where I can work and ski at the same time!  We just sold a property in Cardrona it had so much interest nationally and internationally. Cardrona is in my top 5 -  the cool village café, the iconic pub, the funky gift shop, antique shop, distillery and amazing All Press coffee truck - it’s a real little destination!

2.      The new Beacon Point Pump Track

Wow what a great colab it has between Council, Wanaka Rotary and Aspiring Rotary. I was lucky enough to be involved in Wanaka Rotary whilst the project was being created. Taking my boys to the pump track and seeing their pure joy at hitting the paths and enjoying the outdoors. No devices, no money spent - just good old kiwi BMX bandits enjoying the day as a family. I have been known to get on the bike myself and carve up a few of the trails – Bike Glendhu is a “must do” also!

3.      Mount Iron

When I can I love to walk a loop of MT Iron!  Not a trip goes by where I don’t see someone I know on the walk or taking another photo of the amazing view. It’s a good 1hr round trip and not for the faint hearted, it has an easy side and a steep side. My 4 & 6 year old boys even love walking up whilst playing hide and seek on the way up!

4.       A Gin Sour at Cork

Alex got voted the best Bartender in Wanaka, and its no surprises this guy and his team make the best cocktails in town. My favourite is a Gin Sour at Cork Bar! It has a jazz bar, red lighting ambience, local music, great wine list, inside outside seating and booths. Tyson and I go sometimes or the girls and I go when celebrating a real estate win – no better plan than this stylish hang out when you miss the big smoke.

5.       Hit the Food Trail on Sunday

I am a foodie and love the following….chai tea latte and breakfast at Alchemy, fishing with my boys at Hook and then the Mongolian beef at Fudog. A day of eating with friends and family along with visiting our local wineries (Maude, Rippon) is a day well spent, maybe even sneaky husband date no kids.

We love that we have moved to Wanaka to work and live and we feel truly blessed to be able to call this amazing destination home. The big bonus is we get to help other people do the same and make there dreams to live in Wanaka come true as well.

Cheers,

Hannah
